Sprout could barely take a step.
She was found in the middle of a busy Chicago intersection, with more than 30 kilos of matted fur stuck to her body. Chicago Animal Care and Control rescued her and took her to the One Tail at a Time clinic, where the veterinary team had to sedate her: four people worked for more than three hours to free her from that burden. Underneath, they found a skin infection, but no serious injuries. She had survived all of that alone.
Alli Rooney, from the OTAT team, shared what Sprout’s recovery process was like in her foster home, where they discovered that she loves chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and a new habit: stealing socks to sleep with them on the couch. Today she lives in a forever home with Wally, another Tibetan Mastiff who became her brother. In just six weeks, Sprout went from being unable to move to playing nonstop.
