What seemed like a fight turned out to be even more surprising when doctors explained how delicate the pregnancy was.
The twins were still in their mom’s womb, at just four months of gestation, when their father recorded a routine ultrasound in Yinchuan, China. On the screen, they seemed to be pushing each other and throwing little “punches” as if they were boxing.

Tao, their dad, shared the moment on Douyin and joked that he had never imagined his daughters would become internet stars before they were born. The video went on to rack up millions of reactions and comments.
But then came a much more tender scene: in a new ultrasound, the little ones appeared to be hugging. “They were so tiny and already seemed to be looking after each other”, their father said, moved.
The pregnancy, moreover, was not an easy one. The girls were monochorionic monoamniotic twins, meaning they shared the same amniotic sac and placenta, a rare condition that requires close medical monitoring because of the risk of complications.
They were eventually born healthy by cesarean section at 32 weeks. Their parents nicknamed them “Cherry” and “Strawberry”, after their mom’s two favorite fruits.
And so, the very same twins who became famous for “fighting” before they were born ended up coming into the world healthy, together, and with millions of people eager to find out how their story would continue.
