Mama Pickles was only 2 years old and was days away from giving birth when she was abandoned on the street.
Her owners told animal control rescuers that they ‘no longer needed her.’ With no further explanation, they left a pregnant dog expecting eight puppies to fend for herself. The Pits & Giggles Rescue organization in the United States took her in and decided to do something it does with every female dog it rescues in her condition: give her a magazine-worthy photo shoot, complete with a flower crown.
The photographer who photographed her said that, despite everything she had been through, Pickles was affectionate and calm in front of the camera. A few days later, her eight puppies arrived, all female, and there was a second photo shoot to celebrate them. Those who used her to sell puppies ended up losing her just before she and her daughters finally found a home that would love them.
