Logina Salah was only eight years old when lupus changed her body forever: vitiligo appeared, those patches that lost color while she, little by little, lost the desire to look at herself in the mirror. She said she wanted to be an international model, and the mockery always came in the same phrase: with that skin, never. It took her more than 15 years to accept herself. Meanwhile, she worked as a makeup artist, had a daughter, and moved to Dubai to pursue what so many told her she would never achieve.
At 34, Egypt crowned her Miss Egypt 2024. In November, she arrived in Mexico and became the first woman with vitiligo to compete for the Miss Universe crown, among more than 130 countries. She finished in the Top 30. Today, 1.8 million people follow every step of the girl who was once told she couldn’t do it.
