His teammates hug him, ruffle his hair, and look after him as if he were the little one of the group. And in a way, he is.

Lucas Bergvall arrived at his first World Cup with Sweden as the youngest player ever to debut for that national team in the tournament’s history — with his blond hair, his baby face, and a story that began much earlier than usual.

He was born on February 2, 2006, in Sweden, and by age 15 he was already playing professionally. At 18 he signed with Tottenham for 20 million euros, turning down Barcelona itself along the way.

Two seasons later, he already has a UEFA Europa League title in his pocket and 78 Premier League matches. They call him “the doll” — and not just because of his looks: he has that rare gift the greats have for making the difficult look easy in midfield.

Football runs in his blood: his father was a professional footballer and his mother a physical education teacher. But what people love most about Lucas is not just his talent — it’s seeing him in the locker room, surrounded by adults who protect him as if they knew they were looking at something special. ✨
