Chris Kunzmann holds in his hands a face that still has no owner.
It is synthetic skin mounted on servomotors, the foundation of what is now known as advanced animatronics. The images show the complete process: first, the bare robotic skeleton, with cables and gears exposed, holding a lifeless silicone mask. Seconds later, that same face already has a body, neck, and white shirt, sitting like any person waiting for something.


The skin moves, the artificial muscles tense, and the gaze follows a fixed point. It no longer looks like a sculpture; it looks like someone thinking. And that’s where the question hovering over all this technology arises: if a robot can gesture that well, how long will it be until we can no longer tell the difference?
