A shocking rescue that took place on May 6 in Gansu province, in northwestern China, kept everyone on edge when a three-year-old boy became trapped outside a third floor. The little boy, wearing only a diaper, was clinging with both hands to a cable on a narrow ledge about 10 meters high. The dramatic images show the terror of the moment, making it clear that one wrong move could have ended in a fatal outcome.
Faced with the child’s desperate cries that alerted witnesses, neighbors initially tried to use a ladder that turned out to be too short to reach him. After an emergency call at 6:40 am, a police officer arrived at the scene and, together with a citizen identified as shopkeeper Wang Duohong, carried out the real feat from the roof of the building. Both men lay face down at the edge of the rooftop and, relying entirely on the child’s trust and grip, managed to grab him by the arms and hoist him to safety, risking their own lives in the process.
Fortunately, the boy did not suffer any injuries after the terrifying incident and was immediately handed over to his grandfather. According to community workers, the child had been left completely alone at home while his relatives went out shopping, at which point he climbed through a window, slipped, and ended up hanging outside. Following this viral case, the police issued a stern warning to parents and caregivers to keep a close watch on children, urging them to keep windows and doors tightly closed to prevent household accidents of this level of severity.
