The Miami Zoo (United States) took charge of caring for the creature by placing it in a treatment tank, where it received a special diet and the wounds on its left flipper healed. Thanks to the help, it was able to lay more than a hundred eggs.
The Miami Zoo (United States) received a call about a female loggerhead turtle that had been rescued from a power plant, where she was found with a serious wound on her left front flipper after a shark bit her, according to WTVJ.
The creature, 50 years old and weighing 176 kilos, was taken to a hospital to receive the help she needed in order to survive.

She was named Baymax, and as soon as they treated her they saw that she had scars on her shell, probably caused after being struck by a boat and another shark bite.
They used an ultrasound to examine her, and thanks to the results of a test they realized that she was pregnant, carrying a good number of eggs, as the zoo reported in a statement.

According to that same information, they gave her a special diet based on “liquids, vitamins, and foods including squid and crabs”.
Baymax was placed in a treatment tank, where she managed to stabilize thanks to professional care and her diet. Later they gave her calcium and oxytocin to stimulate the egg-laying process.
After receiving help with the treatment, Baymax was finally able to lay more than a hundred eggs in a recovery tank that they filled with sand to resemble the natural process, since turtles cover them with it.

The professionals handled the eggs very carefully so that staff from the Miami-Dade County Parks Sea Turtle Conservation Program could take them to an artificial nest for incubation. “There is hope that some of the eggs are fertile and will hatch successfully”, the zoo said on Facebook.
