There are goodbyes for which not even all the years in the world together seem like enough.
Gigi Gámez Zúñiga shared a series of photographs that captured a large part of her life alongside her dog. In the first ones, they both appear much younger; as time passed, the images changed, and so did they.
As she grew older, her four-legged companion began to show the signs of age. His face changed, his body grew older, and those years that had seemed endless finally began to take their toll, until the moment arrived that no human who loves an animal wants to face.
Gigi decided to stay by his side during that final stage as well, and the photographs of their farewell ended up moving thousands of people. After so many years growing up side by side, she had to let go of the companion who had been present for a large part of her life.
Because to us, they are a part of our history, but many times, we are practically all of theirs.
