Araki Akane didn’t need any algorithm to get that body. She built it herself, workout after workout, over nearly two decades.

The 176-centimeter-tall former tennis player for Japan’s national badminton team shared some videos showing her current physique. Defined abs, enviable proportions, and a strength that shows in every squat. Many users’ reaction was not admiration, but suspicion. They told her that her body looked “generated by artificial intelligence”, that it was “too unreal” to be true.

Araki had to come out and defend the obvious: “The video was not generated by AI; it shows the real me”. She said she started competing at the age of 7, spent 17 years competing and won four international titles, and that after retiring, she spent another five years reshaping her athlete’s body into what it is today, now as a personal trainer. That people doubt a lifetime of effort because she looks “too perfect” says more about our prejudices than about her body.
