“They took a hungry striker and turned him into a hostage”: Ibrahimovic lashed out at Atletico over the Julián Álvarez case

🚨 Zlatan Ibrahimovic held nothing back.

The Swede weighed in on the Julián Álvarez case and was blunt about Atletico de Madrid’s stance: “It would have been much better if they had simply sold Álvarez to Barcelona. If a player is no longer happy, you let him go”.

For Zlatan, the damage was collective. “Having a footballer who no longer wants to be there ends up poisoning the whole group”, he argued, describing the result in four blows: “No fire. No joy. No ideas”. A team dragging a problem all over the pitch.

He also took aim at Gil Marín: his ego, he said, was too big to let the striker leave, and that pride cost the club far more than any transfer fee. And he summed it up this way: “They took a striker who played with hunger and turned him into a hostage. Not with tactics. With stubbornness”.
