They walk on fire for divine protection: The ancient Hindu tradition of walking on burning embers that defies logic

In some devotional traditions of India, Holika Dahan includes an extreme act of faith that challenges the limits of physics and the human body:

walking barefoot over fire or burning embers, an ancient practice that symbolizes purification, the triumph of good over evil, and divine protection, being one of the most intense manifestations prior to the Holi festival.

Some explain that the low thermal conductivity of charcoal and the layer of vapor that forms between the skin and the ember may be enough to protect the walker, as long as they keep a steady pace and do not stop.

But there are those who attribute this phenomenon to faith and to the spirit’s ability to transcend the limits of the body. However, it is worth saying that you should not try this at home: several have ended up with serious injuries just from attempting it.
