David Peters was 37 years old when a court in Guildford, United Kingdom, convicted him of something that lasted much longer than the relationship itself.
He and his ex-partner were together for just six months. She ended things in July 2022, but he did not accept the breakup. For two years, he repeatedly entered her home without permission, something captured on cameras she had installed herself for protection. On one of those occasions, she found him hiding inside her daughter’s bed. He called her constantly, commented on her physical appearance in messages, sat outside her home all night, and followed her car around the city.
This forced her to buy a new vehicle and change the way she dressed and looked in order to feel a little safer. She described those months as living through hell. Peters breached his parole just five days after being released following his first arrest. He was ultimately sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, as well as a ten-year restraining order prohibiting him from approaching her or her family.
