Norway has just qualified for the Round of 32 of a World Cup for the first time since 1998 ⚽🇳🇴 and its star, Erling Haaland, is coming off scoring a brace against Senegal to reach 4 goals in just two matches. The man in the best form of the tournament. And even so, in the mixed zone with Fox Sports, he said this about the match against France on June 26: “They’ll probably beat us and win the tournament.”

It wasn’t a routine line or false humility. He said it with the same naturalness with which he scores goals 🎯 L’Equipe wondered whether Haaland is “a prophet or simply a pragmatist”. Didier Deschamps, for his part, won’t let his guard down: he praised Norway’s level and warned that France will look to finish as leader of Group I. The winner would avoid a possible Round-of-16 clash with Brazil; the runner-up would face Germany.

Haaland has 59 goals in 52 matches for his national team 🔥 No one doubts his talent. But calling the opponent champions before even playing them… that’s another level. Brutal pragmatism or the greatest motivation he could have handed the French? 🤔
