31 years and 165 days. That was the full lifespan of Bobi, a Rafeiro do Alentejo from Conqueiros, Portugal, in a breed where most do not live past 14. 🐕
Leonel Costa adopted him when he was just 8 years old, and from then on Bobi never knew a leash. He ran free through forests and farmland, ate the same food his family ate at the table, and so, without cages or schedules, he kept adding years until he broke every possible calculation. Not even his mother, Gira, who reached 18, came close to his record. In February 2023, Guinness World Records officially certified him as the longest-lived dog in history, surpassing the Australian Shepherd Bluey, a record that had stood untouched for nearly a century. Bobi died in October of that year, in the same house where he was born.
