Félix Cárdenas has a routine he has not broken in years. He walks several blocks to a dark, deserted bus stop to wait for his daughter Belén when she comes home.
She is no longer a child. She has her own job, her own pace of life, and she left school a long time ago. But for him, that was never enough reason to stop going. “He gradually came to understand that I had to learn to be more independent”, Belén said, although she admits that her dad never stopped being there at the stops.
She shared it on Twitter without imagining that her story would reach thousands of people in Paraguay and beyond. She just wanted to tell him something simple: “Old man, I never want to be without you, I love you so much”. And in that phrase was summed up everything a father can give without asking for anything in return.
