If there is one word that has been controversial recently, it is “tradition”. In recent years, multiple customs that were previously deeply rooted in society have started to be questioned. Mainly, those that relegated the role of women to the home, and to customs that are considered limiting because they are not treated under the same rights as men.

One of the customs most repudiated by feminist groups is that of Roma women. While the ‘matriarchs’ of this belief try to keep their sacred ideals alive and respected, a large part of society is outraged to notice that in the middle of 2026 their ‘rituals’ are still very present. On this occasion, we see a 20-year-old young woman being ‘inspected’ before being ‘given in marriage.’ Through handkerchiefs they verify her virginity, something that, of course, is not done with males.
