“What is this? How? Why?” Even the rescuers themselves were baffled when they saw her.
Amarillo was found completely alone inside an abandoned apartment in Syracuse, New York. Her fur had been dyed an intense yellow from head to toe, and no one knew for certain what substance had caused the color.
But the fluorescent hue was not the most concerning thing. The little dog was dehydrated, her nails were excessively long, and everything indicated that she had been living in neglectful conditions for quite some time. Even so, those who rescued her said she remained affectionate, cheerful, and desperate for attention.
The Friends Forever Animal Rescue team then began the long task of cleaning her fur. It was only after the seventh bath that the yellow started to disappear, and 16 baths were needed to recover almost all of her natural color.
Today Amarillo has a shiny coat, enjoys walks, and gets along well with children, dogs, and cats.
After so much neglect, the only thing she needs to complete her transformation is to find a forever family.
