Dylan probably thought that Pikachu tie had been forgotten among his childhood things, but his dad had other plans.
When he was in first grade, Dylan Olivo made his father, Robert, a Pokémon tie as a Father’s Day gift. He decided to keep it and promised him that one day he would wear it on a truly special occasion.
It took 11 years for him to find the right moment.
On Dylan’s graduation day in Texas, Robert showed up wearing the same tie his son had made when he was a child, just as he was receiving his diploma as a Cum Laude student.
Dylan later said he was surprised to discover that his father had still kept it after so much time, and the gesture ended up becoming one of the most special memories of that day.
What began as a school craft ended up accompanying him during one of the most important moments of his life.
