Gerard McAliece, a 68-year-old grandfather in Renfrewshire, Scotland, lived a nightmare for six years due to rhinophyma. A condition that caused the skin on his nose to become thick, bulbous, red, and bumpy, growing so much that it covered his mouth.

It was so large that he could neither drink nor kiss his partner, and harassment from people forced him to hide in his home.

After initially being rejected by the public system, experts at the Ever Clinic in Glasgow performed an unprecedented cosmetic surgery. The result was a total success: Gerard got his face back and surprised his entire family. His wife, Carol, says he became the man he used to be again.
