A ruptured aorta is one of the deadliest emergencies there is: the body’s largest artery tears, and internal bleeding can kill within minutes. He survived, but that was only the beginning. Multiple surgeries followed, along with weeks connected to medical equipment and a body that had lost almost everything: muscle mass, strength, even the ability to stand on his own.
The first photo shows him like this: extremely thin, with drains and bandages, leaning against the door of his home because walking a few meters was a feat. The second photo is months later, outside a store, wearing normal clothes and with his body recovered. No one would say it is the same person.
Daniel says he is sustaining this second chance with faith and perseverance. There was no explosive moment of victory, only small accumulated achievements: standing a little longer, taking a few more steps, going outside. And that, for someone who was about to lose everything, is already enough. 🙏❤️
