Content creator @justinelovesushi posted a video and sparked a debate on social media after showing the bill from an elegant dinner at Poza, a luxury restaurant in Beverly Hills, where she was charged 110 dollars just to cut and serve the cake she brought to the place herself.

The total dinner bill exceeded 1,100 dollars, but what left everyone looking at the check twice was the infamous “cake cutting fee”, 10 dollars per person to use plates, silverware, and the staff’s service. The criticism exploded so quickly that the restaurant publicly apologized and promised to refund the money, in addition to lowering the fee to 5 dollars per person.

The internet was divided. Some say it’s gourmet abuse; others say that if you bring your own cake to luxury… get ready to pay luxury prices even for the crumbs.
