Erin Piacenti was 32 years old and had a daughter who was just 5 months old.
On August 31, she returned to her job at Bank of America after maternity leave. That same day, while walking through Times Square in New York, she was stabbed to death in an attack authorities describe as random. She left behind her husband, Frank, and Madison, the baby who had been born five months earlier.
The family set up a GoFundMe page with a name that says it all: “In memory of Erin Piacenti: supporting Madison’s future”. They asked for 250 thousand dollars. 750 thousand came in. And within days, more than 8.000 strangers pushed the amount to 1 million dollars.
Madison still can’t stand on her own, but she already knows, without knowing it, that thousands of strangers decided to hold her up. 🤍
