Gonzalo Montoya Jiménez, a 29-year-old man, was being held in a prison in Asturias, Spain, when he was found unconscious in his cell. Three different doctors confirmed clinical signs of death. His family even received the news of his supposed death, and Gonzalo was transferred to the morgue inside a body bag.

But everything changed in seconds. While they were preparing the autopsy, a forensic doctor heard strange sounds. They were gasps. Gonzalo was still alive.

He spent 10 days hospitalized and needed intensive treatment to save his kidneys. To this day, no one has been able to explain with certainty how three doctors declared dead a man who was still breathing.
