Tiago Martins Pitthan was 47 years old and had a diagnosis that left little room for hope: advanced stomach cancer, with metastases that made any surgery unfeasible. Instead of waiting for the end in silence, this Brazilian lawyer decided to organize his own funeral while still alive.

On May 30, 2026, in an old brewery warehouse in Campo Grande, Brazil, what he had envisioned as an intimate gathering for 50 people turned into a party with more than 1,000 guests. There was samba, bossa nova, rock, live painters, and a flash mob. Tiago went onstage and played the guitar he had learned during treatment. Before the event, he had gone skydiving and rappelled 70 meters in Bonito.

He died on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Cassems Hospital, just five weeks after his celebration. Hours earlier he recorded one last message: he said he was at peace and happy. He left having lived everything he wanted to live.
