Rebecca Luna was 49 years old, had two daughters, and a diagnosis that showed no mercy: early-onset Alzheimer’s, detected in April 2025. From Victoria, British Columbia, she documented every stage for her thousands of TikTok followers, until she decided to move up the date of her own death, July 25, through medical assistance in dying.
“I didn’t want to die before 50, but the truth is that I’ve had a really traumatic life. I have suffered enough. I have suffered enough in this world”, Rebecca commented.
Some say it was an act of courage: she chose to leave surrounded by her eldest daughter Maya before losing who she was. Others question whether she exposed such an intimate moment to thousands of strangers, or whether Canadian law allows this decision without requiring death to be imminent.
