A group of Chinese tourists experienced moments of terror while on an excursion in the jungle of Papua, New Guinea. In the middle of the journey, several people dressed as members of a local tribe unexpectedly appeared in front of the group, blocking the way and unleashing chaos and desperation among the visitors.

According to the viral footage, the alleged tribe members surrounded the tourists while shouting and making intimidating movs. One of the women in the group was even taken “hostage”, causing immediate panic among those watching the situation without understanding what was happening.

However, it all turned out to be part of an organized intervention for tourists. These types of extreme experiences are part of some tours carried out in jungle areas of Papua, where tour operators and local communities recreate tense scenes to offer a more exciting experience for foreign visitors.

Although some indigenous communities in the area do preserve authentic ancestral traditions, a large part of these activities are staged as tourist shows. The goal is to create impact, go viral on social media, and increase the interest of people looking to experience an “extreme adventure” in one of the most remote places on the planet.
