“This is an act of discrimination—we’re tired of this,” exclaimed Razzia Santillán after being forcibly removed from the women’s restroom at the National Cinematheque.

The incident occurred when a security guard reportedly kicked the door of her stall to force her out. Visibly shaken, the trans journalist confronted the staff while recording the tense moment, which quickly went viral on social media.

“How many more times is this going to happen?” Razzia asked, as bystanders looked on. The institution later issued an official apology after the incident sparked widespread outrage.

The cultural center also pledged to train its staff to prevent such acts of intolerance from happening again in the 21st century. Meanwhile, Razzia announced plans to organize demonstrations to defend the right of trans people to use public spaces without facing violence.
