Tricycle does not run like the others.
He is missing a leg, but that has never stopped him at the sanctuary where he lives surrounded by other rescued animals. There, he found something that many dogs with four legs never have: a pack of his own, friends he recognizes, smells, and waits for every day.
That is why, when one of them dies, Tricycle does not act as if nothing happened. He stays still, approaches the place where his companion was, and cries. The sanctuary caregivers say that his sadness is as visible as that of any person saying goodbye to someone they loved. No training taught him that: it is pure instinctive loyalty, proof that grief also exists in those we least expect.
