Trump held nothing back.
From the White House, the president spoke about Harry and Meghan as if they still owed him an apology. He said he was happy they had left the United States, and went further: “If I were the Royal Family, I would not have accepted them back”. The statement came just days after the couple landed in England with Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, after spending six years living in Montecito, California.
What stood out most in his words was the direct criticism of Meghan. Trump said he found her “terribly disrespectful” toward Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III, whom he described as “a great, great guy”. Neither Buckingham Palace nor the couple responded to the president’s comments.
Harry and Meghan gave up their royal duties in 2020 and are now returning with no intention of resuming official roles, solely to settle their children in the United Kingdom. But Trump’s shadow has once again put them at the center of the conversation.
