The rescue took place at Seabright State Beach, during a difficult day for beachgoers. In the video, the teenager can be seen holding the child as both are battered by the water, until they finally manage to get out of the highest-risk area with help.
The case drew attention because the young man acted within seconds, without waiting for the situation to worsen. After the footage was shared, Donald Trump announced that he would receive him along with his family to recognize his bravery. An afternoon at the beach ended in a scene that could have had a different outcome.
