Steven Spohn has just turned 46. When he was a child, doctors told his mother he probably wouldn’t make it to 3. 💙
He lives with spinal muscular atrophy and has been working in technology for people with disabilities for 25 years. Every birthday, he has a tradition: he asks a celebrity to help him make the world a little better. This year, he chose Mark Cuban.
But he didn’t ask for money. He asked for something much simpler: a connection. Steven now runs the Mount Sinai Back-to-Life Center and wants to solve a problem he knows firsthand: the medical system can save your life, rehabilitate you, and send you back home, but often no one teaches you how to return to work, travel, have a relationship, or find the tools that make it possible to live independently.
“The answers exist. The technology exists. The knowledge exists”, he wrote. For Steven, what’s missing is building the bridge that connects all of that with those who need it most. 💙
