Keshav and Anjali Kumari live in Ranchi, the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand, and for years their appearance has not matched their age.

According to reports, their bodies began to deteriorate rapidly when they turned one. Today, their skin is extremely wrinkled, their faces are swollen, and they have joint pain. Doctors describe it as a rare form of progeria combined with cutis laxa, a condition that causes the skin to sag and for which there is no treatment. To put it in perspective: classic progeria affects one in every seven million newborns, and those who have it age between five and ten times faster than everyone else.

Their father spends part of his earnings each month on homeopathic treatment. An NGO, Care Today Fund, discovered their case and is funding facelifts to reduce wrinkles and sagging, with initially positive results. Anjali understands how she is different with disarming clarity: her face is swollen while everyone else looks normal.
