Two orphaned baby owls found a second chance with an adoptive mother, and the photo went viral

Luna took in two orphaned baby owls. Along with Bomber, her mate, she cared for the little ones, who found an adoptive family among birds of their own species.

Nature artist and filmmaker Robert E. Fuller documented their upbringing in a 49-minute and 15-second documentary. The two chicks are only part of the story: in the footage, Luna and Bomber care for and raise six little ones who had been orphaned.

Luna had her own connection to adoption. She, too, had been raised that way when she was little: before taking in others, she had been a chick cared for by an adoptive family.
