Chris and Debbie have known each other since third grade in California. They got married a year apart and continued building their lives side by side, as if neither could imagine life without the other’s.
In 2015, Chris confessed something to Debbie that changed her future: she had polycystic kidney disease and needed a transplant. Debbie didn’t hesitate. She spent six months undergoing medical evaluations until doctors confirmed that she could donate a kidney to her friend. The surgery went well, and Chris regained her health.

Years later, the story repeated itself, but from the other side. Ron, Chris’s husband, was living with type 2 diabetes and also needed a transplant. Brad, Debbie’s husband, volunteered without thinking twice, even though they were not blood-compatible and Ron had to prepare with transfusions before undergoing surgery. Everything went well. Two couples, two kidneys, one friendship that held all four families together.
Would you do this for your best friend?
