It was around four in the morning in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona. While half of Spain was still celebrating qualification for the 2026 World Cup final, a private security guard was watching the security cameras at Lamine Yamal’s home and saw something that should not have been there: two figures wearing balaclavas climbing one of the walls.

They did not manage to get in. As soon as they realized they had been discovered, they fled without leaving a trace. Security personnel immediately alerted the Mossos d’Esquadra, who opened an investigation into attempted burglary through their Criminal Investigation Division.

What adds a layer of mystery is that other attempted burglaries were reported that same night at different homes in the same luxury development. It is still unclear whether someone knew exactly which house they were breaking into, or whether you, like any neighbor in that area, were at risk that night without knowing it.
