A mother thought it would be a quick purchase and left her car running with her five-month-old son sleeping soundly in the back. It was 3 in the morning and the place was empty, or so she thought. The thief, who had been looking for an easy target for hours, saw her go into the store, slipped in, and drove off with the vehicle.
The problem appeared when he had already gone nearly 10 kilometers. A faint noise broke the silence inside the car, and when he turned around, he felt his blood run cold: a tiny baby wrapped in a blanket was in the car he had just stolen.
So he took the only path his conscience, crippled but still alive, allowed him: he left him at a gas station in the arms of a stranger and drove away.
Michelle Ashby, the owner of the place, saw him arrive carrying the child and heard the man shout, “Take the baby!” and then saw him flee.
Without really understanding what was happening, they called the police, and the mother arrived half an hour later, hanging by a thread, but her son was already safe.
