They had known each other since childhood in Nigrán, Pontevedra. They started dating at 16, and in 1948 they married without imagining they would be together for 78 years.

In nearly eight decades of marriage, Paco and Carmen never slept apart for a single night. Not one. Until his final hospital stays forced them to do so. Paco died on a Sunday. Carmen followed him the following Friday, just two days before turning 100.

Those close to them have no doubts about the cause: she died “of grief”. As if her body had decided that 78 years of companionship were a pact that could not be broken, not even by death. They leave behind three children, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild who now carry the love story that saw them grow up. 🕊️💍
