Brazilian team São Paulo FC traveled to Bolivia to face Bolívar in the Copa Sudamericana. However, a police operation on the bus delayed its plans.
The club had hired a bus company for its transportation. However, before picking up the players, one of the buses was stopped at a police checkpoint.
Inside, anti-drug agents found 86 kilos of marijuana, distributed in around 65 packages and hidden inside bags. Three people, including the drivers, were arrested.
Most strikingly, the vehicle bore São Paulo’s crest and initials because it was prepared to transport the team. However, the club never ended up using that bus.
The company Buses Cosmos said that responsibility lay with the drivers and sent another bus to transport the squad. The Brazilian team was able to continue with its plans and later traveled to La Paz to play the match.
