Posting the day’s workout became a ritual for millions, but a recent study came along to rain on their parade. According to the researchers, those who constantly share their gym routines could be seeking external validation more than celebrating their real progress — a sign, they say, of insecurity or low self-esteem.
The response was immediate and split social media in two. “I share because it motivates me and motivates others, is that wrong?”, thousands replied. On the other side, just as quickly: “Exactly, someone who is really making progress doesn’t need applause every Monday.”
Is documenting the effort a valid tool or a sign that something isn’t right inside?
