Sirga was barely a cub when she was orphaned on the African savanna.
Valentin Gruener, a man devoted to wildlife, took her in and raised her as if caring for her were his responsibility to the world. There was no cage or calculated distance: there was time spent together, daily care, and a trust that grew alongside the lioness’s body.
Today, Sirga is an adult lioness, strong and feared by anyone who approaches her. But when she sees Valentin, something in her changes completely: she rises onto her hind legs and wraps her arms around him, as if thanking him for every day he was there. The videos capturing that moment went viral on TikTok, and it’s not hard to understand why. Valentin says it clearly: Sirga is probably the sweetest lioness he will ever meet, but he would never recommend that anyone else try the same thing.
