Two young mothers disappeared after celebrating a birthday and were found dead inside a jeep submerged in a river
Vanessa Bautista, 24, and Alexa Navarro, 23, disappeared in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 2026, after celebrating a birthday in Indiana, United States. Both were mothers, and their families began searching for them when they could not reach them.
Three days later, on Tuesday, September 15, authorities found the jeep they were traveling in submerged in the St. Joseph River in Michigan. Inside were the bodies of both women.

According to the initial investigation, the vehicle may have gone down a roughly 20-meter slope before reaching the water. However, the circumstances of the accident remain a mystery.
Police are also investigating accounts indicating that the young women may have been followed before they disappeared, although so far there is no evidence to confirm that theory.
The autopsies and toxicology tests should help clarify what happened that early morning. In the meantime, their families are dealing with the loss of two young mothers who left behind small children.
