Adriana Lima debuted at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 1999. Twenty-seven years later, she returned to close it.

It was October 18 at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, in the third show since the brand canceled it in 2018. Lima, 45, walked in her 21st show and opened the runway in a neon-green bodysuit and cherry blossom-inspired wings. By her side, Alessandra Ambrosio, also 45, celebrated her 20th show: the brand welcomed her at the fitting with giant pink balloons shaped like a 20, and she hit the runway in a jeweled bra and a miniskirt with a train as Megan Moroney’s music played.

Nor were they alone. Doutzen Kroes wore petal wings, and Irina Shayk, Behati Prinsloo and other veterans also returned, this time sharing the stage with a new generation that included Kylie Jenner, making her debut in a $50 million Fantasy Bra.

Many of them began walking the runway when the turn of the millennium was just beginning. Today, they still fill the runway, and the audience celebrates it: confidence and experience don’t expire. ✨
