Shakira won an important legal victory in Spain. The National Court ruled in the singer’s favor and concluded that she could not be considered a Spanish tax resident in 2011, since it was not proven that she had spent the 183 days required by law in the country or that she had her main center of interests there.

For that reason, the court ordered the Tax Agency to return 60 million dollars to her, an amount that with interest and costs could exceed 76 million dollars.

After the ruling, Shakira stated that “there was never any fraud” and criticized the years of public exposure she faced because of the case.
