Jarrett Vick is 27 years old, studies at the University of Central Florida, and that afternoon of February 5, 2025, was arguing with other people when campus police arrived in Orlando. The officer addressed him using male pronouns. Vick demanded that he call him “she”. The officer did not give in.
What followed is documented on video: the voice rising, the warning that if he did not calm down he would end up handcuffed and taken under the Baker Act for psychiatric evaluation, and then the pepper spray, the Taser, the punches and kicks in the final struggle. Vick was detained and faced charges of assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
He pleaded not guilty to all three. Orange County records already list the case as closed. But the video remained stored away for more than a year, until a channel published it this July and the old pain returned as if it were new.
