Amid the destruction left by the 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia, a rescue brought hope back for a few minutes.

Emergency teams and volunteers managed to find a mother and her baby alive, after they had been trapped among the remains of a structure that collapsed in Cali. The baby was only 18 days old, and both remained trapped for approximately 32 hours.

The rescue was captured on video and shows teams working amid the rubble until they managed to pull both of them out alive.

The images are especially striking because in an emergency of this magnitude, every minute counts. While rescuers searched for survivors among unstable structures, they finally managed to locate the mother and the little one and get them out of the area.

The earthquake left enormous destruction in different areas of Colombia, with Cali among the affected cities and numerous structures damaged or collapsed.

Amid a tragedy that has left hundreds of families affected, this rescue became one of those scenes that remind us why emergency teams keep searching even when the chances seem minimal.

Mother and child survived. And the images of the moment they were pulled from the rubble are already spreading across social media.
