On the night of September 28, 2026, a neighbor found her in South Los Angeles, near Alba Street. She was taken to a hospital, where she died; the LAPD opened a homicide investigation.
On September 29, authorities arrested 19-year-old Takiyah Babers, identified as the girl’s mother, on suspicion of murder. The exact cause of death had not been disclosed. Her grandparents thought they recognized the baby as their granddaughter Luna based on a physical trait, but the county coroner had not yet officially confirmed her identity.
