6:30 in the morning. Just another Friday in a Boston neighborhood. Until the sound of bagpipes broke the silence.

Mike Morrison, a local resident, opened the door and found what no neighbor expects in life: a group of Scottish fans in kilts playing traditional music in front of a house covered in flags, as if the whole neighborhood belonged to the Tartan Army. He filmed everything. The video, of course, immediately went viral. And the Scots did not come alone: an estimated 30,000 fans traveled to Massachusetts for their national team’s debut at the 2026 World Cup, their first in 28 years. Boston stopped being Boston and officially became ‘Mini Scotland.’

The best part is that the story has a happy ending for them. On June 13, in Foxborough, Scotland defeated Haiti 1-0 with a goal from John McGinn and ended a 36-year winless run at World Cups. Even the Boston police got caught up in it: one officer put on the Scottish jersey and another juggled a ball in front of the fans, in videos that also went viral from the Department’s official account. If any neighbor complained about the bagpipe wake-up call, they no longer have an argument.
