Gina Moore lives on a farm in British Columbia, Canada, surrounded by geese, cows, and four Nigerian dwarf goats that she named Leo, Mick, Donnie, and Raff, after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That night, security cameras recorded a cougar entering the barn and catching one of them. Gina didn’t just stand by: she ran toward the predator and kicked it, forcing it to release its prey and flee into the woods.
The goat, which according to reports had little chance of making it out of that encounter alive, survived thanks to those seconds of reaction. The video went viral around the world, and it’s not difficult to understand why: rarely does one see someone run toward danger instead of away from it.
