Chloe didn’t think twice.
She was on the fourth floor of PLQ Mall in Singapore, breastfeeding her eight-month-old baby beside her mother, when she noticed a delivery driver in a yellow uniform talking for quite a while with the staff at the Hong Lim Curry Puff stall. She thought there was a language barrier and wanted to help. As she approached, she recognized the uniform: it was Meituan, the Chinese delivery platform. “I wondered when Meituan had arrived in Singapore”, she recounted. She put her baby down and started recording.

The answer left her speechless. The delivery driver had flown from China to Singapore on a 2.400-yuan ticket, about 455 dollars, to pick up six potato and sardine curry puffs that cost just 13.50 dollars. He wouldn’t say how much they would pay him as a tip.

The founder of the business, Victoria Loh, believes the customer may have discovered her curry puffs during a roadshow she held in Hainan in May 2026. For her, that absurd order was proof that two years of work had been worth it: “We are happy to be able to share the taste of Singapore”, she said.
